Invitationals

What is an Invitational Meet?

Teams must be invited to attend an invitational meet. Several teams attend each meet. It's usually a fundraiser for the host team.

- There is a fee per entry, which we must pay at least a week ahead of time when we submit the entries. Swimmers are charged for each individual event they enter. Our team pays for relays events at Invitationals.

- These meets are approximately 5 hours in length, depending on how many teams are participating. Warm up is usually very early in the morning.

- All events are "live" at invitational meets.

- There is usually an admission fee (approximately $5) for anyone who is not a swimmer. There is usually an additional cost for heat sheets.

- There is usually a concession stand.

- Sometimes there are t-shirts, suits and caps for sale.

- Swimmers should bring: towel or something to sit on, towels for after races, warm clothes, sunscreen, healthy snacks, water, things to do such as beads, books, card games, etc. Electronics are not a good idea. If the weather is chilly, it is helpful to bring several bathing suits so wet suits can be taken off after races to keep warm. If you have a sportbrella, they come in handy as we don't have enough tent space for the entire team under our team tents. Camping tents are not permitted.

- Parents should bring: chairs to sit on
