Dual Meets

What is a dual meet? A dual meet is between Mountville and one other team. There is no fee to swim. There is no entry fee.

-Home meets: arrive at 5:15, warm-up at 5:30, meet starts 6:15

-Away meets: arrive at 5:30, warm-up 5:45, meet starts 6:15

-Notify a coach immediately if your child becomes ill and cannot attend a meet. Changes to the lineup are very time consuming to make.

-Swimmers should bring: towel or something to sit on, towels for after races, warm clothes, sunscreen, healthy snacks, water, things to do such as beads, books, card games, etc.

Electronics are not a good idea. If the weather is chilly, it is helpful to bring several bathing

suits so wet suits can be taken off after races to keep warm. If you have a sportbrella, they

come in handy as we don't have enough tent space for the entire team under our team tents.

Camping tents are not permitted.

-Parents should bring: chairs to sit on

-Dual meets last about 3 hours. Usually the home team provides a treat for the visiting team (and home team) at the conclusion of the meet.

-There is usually a concession stand.

-There is ONE “live” heat for points. The other heats are exhibition. Exhibition swimmers do not sore points, but they usually earn ribbons.

-Dual meet scoring: Points are awarded to the top 3 finishers of the live heats. 1st place=5 points, 2nd place=3 points, 3rd place=1 point. Relays are scored 7 points for the winning relay team only.
